Sourcing her African roots for inspiration Mamé predominantly uses the finest traditionally hand woven Ethiopian fabrics to create her timeless look.
It was a childhood dream for Mamé to become a fashion designer. She started making little dresses after receiving a miniature sewing machine for Christmas at the age of eight.
Mamé studied in the US and graduated from Marymount University, Virginia with a BA in Fashion Design. She has participated and exhibited her collections in several fashion events including DC Fashion Week and the Congressional Black Caucus in Washington, DC.
When it comes to her creations, simple yet elegant designs, with special attention given to details are Mame’s signature trademarks. Beautiful detailing is the philosophy behind MMD Design. The collection consists of unique and exclusive women’s line that includes evening gowns and bridal gowns. Her first boutique opened in April 2011, and MMD Design became available for online orders in March 2012.
